Young activist training

From 22-25 March, co-founders of Tactical Tech, Stephanie Hankey and Marek Tuszynski were in Beirut training young activists as part of the British Council's Global Changemakers Programme. The participants consisted of a group of around 60 young community workers and social activists aged between 16-25 from 14 different countries across the Middle East and North Africa.

The aim of this programme is to, according to the British Council website, “create and support a large global network of future young activists and social entrepreneurs aged between 16 and 25 and develop them into Changemakers.”

Marek and Stephanie conducted a four-day workshop, with the participants, on visualising information in advocacy work. Through a series of hands-on exercises, participants were introduced to such concepts as how to target your audience, how to tailor your message, build a storyline based on complex data and how to collaborate with designers to visualise your information. In the second phase of the workshop, participants explored learned methods and experimented with various formats and then discussed the effect of visualised information through a series of info-graphics, videos, posters and animations.
